| Carol and Phil after dropping us off at Penmon. |
Another lovely walk along the Menai straites; quite a lot actually on the beach again, but this time there were more stones - very hard going for a while. Just over 11 miles today, with no rain although it did look as though it was going to at one stage.
| We walked quite a long way on stones like this! |
| Walking into Beaumaris, you can see the large castle |
We were able to stop for coffee today in Beaumaris - very civilised. After coffee there was quite a steep climb up by a golf course. Carol and Phil also did a circular 5 mile walk from Beaumaris by the castle and up by another golf course.
| Looking back towards Beaumaris from steep hill! |
We came a little inland and then headed back down towards the Menai bridge.
| The Menai bridge designed by Thomas Telford in 1826 |
We went under the bridge and then further along the coast to get to the Britannia bridge which carries the main road and rail to Holyhead.
| Britannia bridge, which practically burnt down in 1970 and had to be re-build, but this time they built a railway under the main roadway. |
| Everyone staring up open mouthed at the bridge. |
The bridge is of course just next to the town of llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch . We didn't quite go into the town to see the station, but maybe we will tomorrow.
We were back at the house quite early today, and Walt, Stuey and Jacqui are on cooking team - jacket potatoes with lots of scrummy meats and salads. Last night I was on duty with Steve and Tim, we did a full roast chicken dinner which seemed to fill everyone up - it's a wonder I could walk at all today as I ate so much yesterday! We certainly don't starve!
This morning before leaving Carol and I linked our phones with an app so that we could see where we both are; that will help Carol and Phil when judging what time to pick us up, and it helped us find them at the coffee shop today :) Isn't it amazing what technology can do today.
